This academic year, Saja, Sally, Nabeel, Hassan and Trawat enrolled in the Dutch Preparatory One-Year Programme at Linguapolis with the help of a scholarship for refugee students.
Their goal? To learn Dutch in one year and then pursue a Dutch-taught degree at a university or university college in Flanders.
This gives them the opportunity to become the engineers, pharmacists and programmers of tomorrow.

Some young refugees in Belgium are eager to begin or continue their higher education. Earning a degree here can also help them turn the qualifications obtained in their home country into career opportunities in Belgium.

Most degree programmes in Flanders require Dutch at B2 level. Reaching that level takes time, so Linguapolis developed the intensive Dutch Preparatory One-Year Programme. After completing it, students can move on to a degree programme at a university or university college.

A Flemish degree can then help these refugees quickly find work that matches their ambitions and talents.

Why your support matters

The Dutch Prep Year is a full-time study programme, but it is not a state-funded course. Applicants undergo a selection process and the number of scholarships available depends on the amount of funds raised.

The tuition fee for a refugee student is €4,895.

Every donation makes a difference!
