Bridging research and policy perspectives on singlehood across countries and disciplines
The International Singles Studies Association (ISSA) welcomes scholars, policymakers, artists, advocates and anyone engaged with singlehood to its 6th annual meeting, to be held in person from 6 to 9 July 2027 at the University of Antwerp, Belgium. Each year, the conference brings together a community of scholars and professionals who are pushing the boundaries of our understanding of singlehood in its various dimensions.
Singlehood is increasingly visible in societies worldwide, yet policies are often still built around couples and families. Research can show who singles are, what they need and how their lives differ across contexts, but findings only matter if they reach those who shape policy. This conference acts as a bridge: it creates a space where scientific evidence meets policy expertise and practical experience, and where researchers, policymakers and advocates learn from each other’s questions, data and priorities.
Join us in Antwerp for four days of exchange across countries, disciplines and sectors, and help shape how singlehood is understood, studied and supported.
