What Private Law Can (or Cannot) do for Human Rights
On Thursday 19 November, Begüm Kilimcioğlu will be defending her PhD on "Preventing Adverse Human Rights Impacts in Global Value Chains by Contracts and Contract Law: The Integrated Protection Model".
On this occasion, the Research Group Law & Development is organising a seminar on business and human rights, broadening the scope to the role of private law in human rights protection.
The seminar will take place from 11.30 to 14.00 and will include a light vegetarian lunch.
The speakers include:
Jaakko Salminen, Uppsala University, who will address the question of contract law and its role (or not) in human rights protection;
Martijn Scheltema, University of Rotterdam, an expert in Business and Human Rights, who will share his experience assisting corporations with their contracts.
If you're interested in sharing research that shows links to these issues, please let us know.
Anyone interested in just coming to listen: welcome!
