Nanostructured and Organic Optical and Electronic Materials

Vision

The NANOrOPT (former ECM) group is part of the Physics Department of the University of Antwerp.

We investigate a range of topics in the physics of (mainly optical) materials, such as carbon nanotubes,  materials for organic electronics including photovoltaic cells, point defects in high energy band materials, and crystalline nanostructures. Emphasis is on the development of advanced optical and laser-spectroscopic equipment. New instrumentation is available for high-sensitivity fluorescence-excitation spectroscopy, Raman scattering with tuneable laser wavelength, and pulsed laser experiments for time-resolved optical spectroscopy and nonlinear optics, also with wavelength-tuneable laser systems.
